The aim of the 1st Harting Scout Group is to promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.At 1st Harting we have Beaver, Cub and Scout Sections.A local Forrest School make use of our Scout hut during the week.

Structured progress work and selective badge work relaed to personal physical and mental personal capabilities. Outdoor activities include hiking, camping, expeditions, climbing, caving canoeing, sailing, shooting, abseiling, and competitive sports.

Run scout, cub & beaver packs weekly with indoor and outdoor activities, plus regular camps.

Scout Group including Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. Open to boys and girls.

Recreational activities.

Scouting activities, including Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

Training & education of young people in accordance with the Scout association policy organisation & rules.

The education and training of children and young people through the Scout movement.

As Scouts, we believe in preparing young people with skills for life. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more. Each week, the 256th Christchurch Hengrove Scout Group give young people of South Bristol the opportunity to enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed.

The Scout Group runs a program of activities, both outdoor and indoor, through which young people are encouraged to develop their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The Scout Method provides an enjoyable and attractive scheme of progressive training, based on the Scout Promise and Law, which is guided by adult leadership.

RUNNING A CUB AND SCOUT GROUP

The Scout group offers 1 beaver colony, 1 cub pack & 1 scout pack.

The hall is busy each weekday and most evenings with many and varied activities which are well publicised on noticeboards within the village.These include games afternoon inc indoor bowls,bingo,art classes including one for portraiture,Quilting,patchwork,beading and embroidery,coffee mornings. and scouts.Weekends are usually let for private functions and/or concerts

Our Scouting provides Activities each week for young people from the ages of 6years to 14years.They have the opportunity to attend Camps(experiencing Kayaking,Horse Riding,Swimming,).and also to go on visits and outings as well as helping them to acheive confidence and build up social skills.

The Charity Supports the activities of the local sections of the Scout and Guide Association.

Various guides, brownie and scouts activities run from the centre. Including sports, crafts, outdoor adventuring, domestic cooking.
