The trust makes grants to baptist churches named in the trust deed for the support of the ministers and poor of the congregations. The grants are funded solely from income generated by the trust's 1698 endowment.

Payment of grants to residents of Thaxted who are either families with three or more children under the age of 16 on the qualifying date, couples who were married in Thaxted Parish Church within the previous twelve months of the qualifying date, apprentices or students undertaking further education. Grants may also be made to Thaxted Parish Church for restoration of the church.
