The object of the Society shall be to provide the advancement of public education in the archaeology and local history of Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill and Loughton in the County of Essex, together with the surrounding area.

To advance public education of the D-Day landings by Allied Forces in 1944 and the subsequent campaign to liberate Normandy, through the promotion of and contribution to the D-Day Memorial Garden and the Normandy Battle Museum in Caen, thereby also commemorating the landings, as well as the historical importance and sacrifices made.

Annual grants to elderly individuals, though the trustees remain vigilant for any other deserving case in the village that may arise during the year for consideration.

The Charity makes grants to other charities (mainly those to which grants have been made for a number of years) which pursue activities in line with the objects of the trust. Occasionally it is possible to add new charities to this list.

Makes grants to students who are about to enter, or are in further or higher education and are sons or daughters dependent upon workers employed or formerly employed by the Bolsover Colliery Company.

As we have no school, shop or public house, the village hall is therefore the only focal point for the village. It provides a facility that is available to all the residents , various committees,social groups and is available for private functions to the villagers. The elected committee & trustees oversee the use, maintenance & provision of all the facilities that are available to all.

The Charity makes grants to persons experiencing or recovering from physical or mental ill health, to aid in their recovery or help improve their everyday lives. Requests and grants must be made via another agency, eg. social care services, health services, hospices etc. There is no direct contact between the trustees and individuals awarded grants.

Provision of small grants to residents of the parish of Haverthwaite who are in continuing education after leaving school.

The main activity of Basic Trust is the award of educational aid and medical grants to the poor in Africa, Asia and South America.

1. Hold and arrange for public display of two collections of art, namely one of African Art (currently in Pitt Rivers Museum, Oxford) and one of Portrait Miniatures (currently in Compton Verney, Warks). 2. Make grants to organisations out of income.

OPERATES IN THE AREA OF BLINDCRAKE PARISH TO PROVIDE CHARITABLE SERVICES FOR THE GENERAL BENEFIT OF ITS INHABITANTS INCLUDING SUPPORTING OTHER CHARITIES AND MAKING GRANTS WHERE THESE WILL BENEFIT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY.

TO PROMOTE RESEARCH INTO HISTORIC AND THE INDUSTRIAL ARCHAEOLOGY OF THE ROYAL DOCKYARD AT PORTMSOUTH. TO PROMOTE THE EDUCATION OF THE PUBLIC ON MATTERS CONNECTED WITH THE HISTORY OF THE DOCKYARD.

Assists its own members, Donations to other Charitable causes and makes grants to the Shropshire Masonic Charitable Association for distribution according to their regulations.

Education of the public in the study of local history and genealogy in Spondon and its neighbourhood. Maintain an archive of material relating to Spondon.
