Anglican Cursillo is a movement of the Church providing a method by which Christians are empowered to grow through prayer, study and action and enabled to share Gods love with everyone. We operate throughout the Diocese of Sheffield.

We provide an outreach service to the homeless in Barnsley. Our volunteers listen to their problems and we sign-post on to other agencies if needed.

This trust makes small grants to add to people's own limited resources to enable them to undertake personal and professional development. The trust is concerned with the applicant's life experience and their commitment to personal and community benefit. Operates in Barnsley, Doncaster and Rotherham only. Presentation by public performance of stage plays. The society also aims to advance the education of the public in the Dramatic Arts. The society also hires its theatre to other organisations who put on plays and musicals.

Recreation ground

Formed in 1999 the organisation includes a senior band, junior and beginner groups, with 3 current members being at the first rehearsal. To encourage new players and as part of our development policy, workshops are carried out in local schools and 'Music Cafes' are held . Our aim is to keep brass banding alive in the 21st century. 2019 will see the band celebrate its 20th Anniversary.

the theatre in education company was formed in 1993 to provide a high quality, innovative educational theatre service. The company specialises in producing Cross Community Educational Theatre Programmes for disadvantaged and disaffected adults, young people and the professionals who work with them. The Sorby Natural History Society is the Natural History society for the Sheffield City region, providing education, research and publications, including biological and geological recording of wildlife, habitats, rocks and landscapes. Operates mostly in Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and the Peak District.

We are a voluntary run group aimed at parents, grandparents and carers with children up to school age. Children can experience mixing with others and playing with good quality toys and parents / carers can have a coffee, make friends and share experiences.

Sheep Dog Trials

Penistone Ladies' Choir aims to develop an awareness and appreciation of music, particularly choral music, by means of public concerts and recitals. The Choir helps to foster community spirit and fellowship in music through joint performance with other individuals and musical groups and to encourage younger musicians to perform as part of our concerts in order to give them valuable experience.

Community centre and recreation ground

Barnsley Bereavement Support Services offers free confidential help from appropriately trained volunteers to those who cannot come to terms with their bereavement. It is available to all those who live in the Barnsley District.

We provide a weekly meeting programme and operate the J.A. Jones Hoober Observatory where we run a Community Access Programme. We also undertake outreach visits to school and community groups.

To treat injured hedgehogs and wherever possible release them back into the wild. To care for those hedgehogs that cannot be released.To educate both children and adults about hedgehogs and their environment.
