Running a Christian Ministry

The PTA hold events for the pupils, parents and families of our pupils. An example of such events is:Summer Fun Days, Christmas Fayres, pamper evenings, pupil discos, etc.

The PTA/Friends of Charles Darwin School provide a service to the school by engagement and fundraising to help further the education and enhance the learning of pupils attending Charles Darwin School. The PTA/Friends exists to provide closer links between home and school bringing staff, parents, friends and the community together socially in support of our school.

Women's Institute meetings W I Activities advance the education and citizenship of women and enable them to work together in their communities to put into practive the ideals for which the WI stands.

Archaeological excavation and presentation to the public in the Orpington area. Dissemination of archaeological and historical information principally via monthly lectures and a quarterly magazine.

FELIX'S SCHOOL OF ROCK PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PERFORMANCE OF MUSIC, PARTICULARLY BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, ROCK MUSIC. IT DOES THIS BY RUNNING COURSES WHERE STUDENTS WORK IN GROUPS WITH PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS CULMINATING IN A PERFORMANCE AND WORKING TO BUILD CONFIDENCE AND SELF ESTEEM.

Monthly meetings ,where opportunity is given to educate members to provide an effective role in community.Opportunities to participate in social, musical, craft, home economics, walking, theatre events. have also taken place.

Daley Bread has been set up to provide support and services to vulnerable and disadvantaged members of our community ie children, young people and families. We provide preventative and intervention services following local authority guidelines and procedures. Our specialism is family support, therapeutic services and specialist work with vulnerable young people.

Astronomy - public meetings and observing sessions to further local interest in astronomy and encourage participation in astronomical observations.

The objectives of The Friends of Bencurtis Park is to assist with Bencurtis Park amenities, activities, the environment and services to older people.

TO FOSTER COMRADESHIP AND TO PROVIDE WELFARE SUPPORT TO PRESENT AND FORMER MEMBERS OF THE ROYAL AIR FORCES, THEIR FAMILIES AND DEPENDENTS. WELFARE ACTIVITIES INCLUDE ASSISTANCE FOR INDIVIDUALS IN WELFARE NEED, HOME AND HOSPITAL VISITS, HELP IN OBTAINING FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE WHEN IN NEED, AND HELP WITH THE PROVISION OF NECESSARY TRANSPORT AND MOBILITY AIDS.

GIVING ADVICE ON AMENITY PROBLEMS AFFECTING THE nORWOOD AREA. RESEARCHING LOCAL HISTORY AND PUBLISHING LITERATURE ABOUT ITS HISTORY AND CULTURE. COMMUNICATING INFORMATION THROUGH TALKS, EXHIBITIONS AND QUARTERLY NORWOOD REVIEW. ACTING AS SOURCE OF EXPERTISE ON PLANNING, TRANSPORT, TREES AND OPEN SPACES.

The Charity carries out a range of fund raising activities.

Provision of support for those in need by reason of Disability, Age, Youth. By the provision of welfare and support, health and social care, housing, employment and enterprise support.

Various fund raising events such as the Christmas bazaar, summer family fun day. Other fundraising and 'not for profit' activities organised including swimming lessons, pantomime outings and after school clubs and discos.

We hold a social club once per month in Sidcup and a peer led discussion group once a month. The club is open to adults with an autistic spectrum disorder as well as parents, carers, siblings and professionals. The discussion group is open to anybody with an autistic spectrum disorder. We also hold various events and trips throughout the year.We offer advocacy and individual support.

Driver training up to IAM advanced driving test standard.

We hold public talks on astronomy and related subjects in Central Croydon approximately every two weeks during school term time. We also maintain an observatory located at Kenley, and aim to open this for public outreach each Saturday evening (provided there is a sufficiently dark and clear sky), and also for pre-arranged group visits (eg Scout association) midweek.
