Relief of poverty of the elderly in York and its environs, by cooperation with and support to like minded organisations in York

support of poor in the parish of St Denys York

Production of the York Cycle of Mystery Plays in the waggon play tradition using a four yearly cycle. Arranging conferences to increase the knowledge of the mystery plays in this form.

The necessary reparations of the church and the ornaments, books and requisites thereto belonging

Relieving either generally or individually persons resident in the parish of St Denys, Walmgate, York, who are in conditions of need, hardship or distress, by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services or facilities calculated to reduce the need, hardship or distress of such persons.

The charity administers and funds the Percival J. Hay Memorial Prize which is awarded for a critical essay or paper in the field of ophthalmology, which may or may not have been published. The winner receives a certificate and a small sum of money. It also funds an annual memorial lecture in the field. Owing to the Covid-19 pandemic the charity has had no expenses since April 2020.

To provide for the theatrical education of young persons resident in Yorkshire and North East Lincolnshire who are members of an operatic or dramatic society affiliated to the National Operatic and Dramatic Asssociation and to make grants to assist in disbursing the cost oftheir attendance at Theatre School Courses or Study Groups.

TO BE APPLIED IN OR TOWARDS THE SUPPORT OF ANY CHARITABLE WORK HAVING IN VIEW THE IMPROVEMENT OF THE SPIRITUAL, INTELLECTUAL, MORAL OR SOCIAL CONDITIONS OF THE INHABITANTS OF THE ECCLESI[A]STICAL PARISH OF ST MARGARET WITH ST PETER LE WILLOWS, YORK, AND THE ADJOINING DISTRICTS, WITHOUT DISTINCTION OF RELIGIOUS OPINIONS.

I. to advance the education of the pupils of the School by providing or assisting the provision of education, recreational and other charitable facilities in augmentation of such facilities financed by the Local Authority. II. to or for such other charitable purposes as the trustees may from time to time determine.
