SOUP provide an outreach service to individuals who are suffering from extreme isolation and are beyond reach of traditional charities who have no family or friends and scarce financial security by providing material and Mental health support. Fundraising and grants for other charities by organising Wellness events and concerts. Mental health support programmes for staff of other charities.

The Charity's objects are to preserve and protect for the public benefit the land and building of St Andrew's Old church, Bishopthorpe, North Yorkshire and to facilitate heritage led regeneration and enhance the character and appearance of historic areas.

In 2008 St Columba's URC Church gave the equivalent of -ú35,000 by providing modern office facilities for a number of charities which serve the people of York and District. The charity funds two Bible prizes to year six pupils at Wheldrake with Thorganby C of E Aided Primary School. The pupils who enter have to learn and then recite two Bible passages and answer questions.
