The Hospice of St Francis (Berkhamsted) Ltd aims to achieve the best quality of life for patients with life-limiting illness, using the skills of a highly trained team of staff and volunteers in the therapeutic environment of the Hospice, at home, and elsewhere.

St Clare Hospice exists to meet the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of those with advanced and progressive life limiting illness and of their carers, through the provision of specialist palliative care services, based on need, as far as its resources allow.

To provide a wide range of services for patients, their carers and families facing life limiting illness through: the Hospice Inpatient Unit; Hawthorne Centre providing day services; Hospice at Home and Continuing Health Care team caring for patients in their own homes; Family Support Services providing support and counselling; 24/7 advice line for patients, families and healthcare professionals.

This is a grant-making trust offering financial support to other charities/voluntary organisations. Grants are made for a wide range of charitable purposes, but there is a particular interest in environmental & conservation projects & in supporting the elderly/infirm & their carers & disadvantaged young people.
