The Friends of Ansdell Primary School is a charitable organisation formed of the parents, teachers and friends of the school. The charity undertakes a number of fundraising activities in order to raise funds to support the aims of the school.

The Charity supports people with Mental health problems and their onward support post release ( from prison) This involves signposting them to local Gp surgeries and locating services.It further supports widows and their dependents.A sewing school has been opened to equip these unfortunate dependents in gaining skills and a trade to become independent and to support siblings

The charity considers requests for grants made by organisations and individuals operating primarily in Greater Manchester, but also the northwest of England more generally. A joint decision is reached by the trustees as to the public benefit of these applications, and grants are issued accordingly.

TO PERFORM THE WORKS OF GILBERT AND SULLIVAN IN LOCAL THEATRES FOR THE ENJOYMENT AND EDUCATION OF THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. THE SOCIETY NOW HAS PERFORMANCES 'SIGNED' FOR THE BENIFIT OF THE 'DEAF'. THE SOCIETY IS OPEN TO ALL, THE CURRENT AGE RANGE IS FROM 17 YEARS TO 80 YEARS. DISABILITY IS NO PROBLEM, THE LAST PERFORMANCE HAD ONE 'ON STAGE' IN A WHEELCHAIR'. THE NEXT PERFORMANCE HAS ONE ACTOR WITH M.S.

SUPPORTING ELLEL ST JOHN'S PRIMARY SCHOOL

to provide a centre/meeting place for the community of Higher Walton

Promotion of high quality Chamber Music concerts in the Ribble Valley and surrounding areas to foster public knowledge and appreciation of such music by means of expert performance, informative programmes and websites. To foster knowledge and appreciation of such music by young people by arrangement whenever possible by master-classes, open rehearsals and the like.

Provide extra-curricular educational opportunities for schoolchildren whose parents are unable to provide them.

Management of St John's Old School Hall for the benefit of the church community and the wider community. Uses for meetings , youth groups ,free drop in coffee afternoon twice monthly , lunches and ecumenical worship for those unable to gain access to a church, film club. private functions. Occasional craft workshops and other social gatherings. Available for hire.

To advance the education of the public regarding the history of the Whitworth Valley and in particular by the establishment and maintenance of a Public Museum

Prayer & Praise every Saturday at Nelson Independent Methodist Church, Nelson

We hold regular meetings and workshops to further education and interest in lacemaking. We also demonstrate lacemaking to the general public when invited.

The charity's objects are the relief of persons who are physically disabled or mentally handicapped by the provision of facilities in the interests of Social Welfare which it undertakes by organising trips for the public on a boat owned by the trust and run by volunteers.
