Bringing Words to Life (BWtL) is a literacy charity, founded by a journalist and author. After a lengthy pilot study in a primary school, the engagement of the children through this alternative platform encouraged the development of BWtL. The intention is to engage as many young people as possible with the processes, skills, and attitudes they need to enhance their literacy.

The charity runs the Tyneside Pregnancy Advice Centre, based in Newcastle upon Tyne, providing support for women facing unplanned pregnancy. Services are free and confidential, and include information and advice on issues relating to pregnancy, parenting, abortion and adoption, the opportunity for a limited non-diagnostic ultrasound scan, and ongoing care and support for women and their families.

Jack's Journey supports Cumbrian families who have received a cancer diagnosis and are currently, or have recently finished, cancer treatment. This is through financial grant making, but also through smaller gifts to aid their time in hospital.In addition, Jack's Journey provides holiday accommodation for families from across the north who are currently, or recently finished, cancer treatment.

Training to the standards required by the Marine Society and Sea cadets. This includes boatwork, seamanship, map reading and navigation skills and all crafts and sports relevant to naval cadets. On-water boat training, shore based camps and training voyages on offshore vessels. Much of the training gives National Governing Body qualifications as well as B Tech courses. The Project operates in the west area of Sunderland, providing a range of activities/facilities and services to the Community. The team was formed back in the 1970s as a North of Tyne Local Education Authority team in response to an increase in the number of incidents occurring on the hills and fells of Northumbria as outdoor activities such as climbing and hill walking grew in popularity. It became the North of Tyne Search & Rescue Team in the early 80s and more recently became the North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team

Tyneside Outdoors provides primarily young people with the opportunity to learn and explore in the outdoors. Using a Community Development approach, we engage disadvantaged young people in regular activities that build their confidence and skills, provide them with new opportunities and help them to appreciate the natural world.

Ouseburn Community Centre provides a community facility for use by the general public, voluntary, statutory and commercial operators with social benefit at their core. We work in partnership with a range of providers catering to people of all ages, denominations and needs. We have a strong working relationship with Hotspur Primary School providing parents with much needed childcare after school.

The Newcastle Bach Choir holds 3 or 4 public concerts annually, one of which is always features the works of JS Bach. It also aims to perform works by twentieth century British composers on a regular basis. In addition, the choir engages in activities (workshops, outreach, partnerships with other choirs) to further its musical objectives.
