The Royal Naval Assocation is a social organisation for veterans of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Women's Royal Naval Service. It also provides welfare support to members. The Newport Branch is part of Area 7 of the RNA whose HQ is in Portsmouth.

Our aim is to advance the education of the public and in particular of young people in the region surrounding the Severn Estuary and Bristol Channel by delivering workshops and on-line resources in the subjects of tidal power, the science of tidal power and its impact on the environment and the application of engineering in harnessing tidal energy.

To advance the education of the public in the history of military and police bands by the establishment, improvement and maintenance of an archive collection of articles, artefacts, music, information and related itemsWe are presently cataloguing the collection by means of archiving and digitalizing the whole collection to make it more available locally and worldwide through the internet

We support research into the treatment and causes of gynaecological cancer in South Wales. We also support the development of facilities to improve the care of women with gynaecological cancer.

We run a local support group for parents and carers of children and young people with Down Syndrome. This includes support group meetings and organising activities for the families.

We provide groups that allows an open forum for faith development. Training for ministers, spiritual healers/reiki practitioners. Groups for meditation, young persons work and an internet presence on social networking sites. We also support smaller charities and groups with guidance and advice on faith matters and some small financial assistance/finding.

We provide a calm presence on the street making ourselves available to care, listen and support valuable people who are at risk late at night, without favour.We try to raise the Community and Church awareness of anti-social behaviour.We do this by providing a physical presence on the streets at least two Saturday nights in every month 10-00pm ---4.00am.

The object of the charity is the provision of a village hall for the inhabitants of the neighbourhood. Due to its condition the building has been mothballed. The charity's resources having now been exhausted the Community Council of Goldcliff (as custodian trustees) are now bearing the cost of insurance and mains services.
