Downham Market & District Heritage Society collects,preserves and displays artefacts, documents and photographs relating to Downham Market and the surrounding villages. These items have mostly been donated by local residents and the Society operates from a free admission Heritage Centre. The Society attends outside events and has a regular programme of Talks.

Bitternes Afloat organise and operate youth sailing holidays on the Norfolk Broads in the context of a Christian environment. The provision and maintenance of a village hall for the use of people of Garboldisham and the surrounding areas. The day care centre provides facilities for elderly & disabled people to have social contacts and a hot midday meal. We provide organised entertainment, slide shows, talks, live music, light exercise and bingo. Computer training, hairdressing & chiropody are available. We also arrange coach outings during the year.
