Women's Institute

Dedicated to raising awareness for childhood brain tumours The Jorja-Rose Foundation was established after the death of Jorja-Rose from pineoblastoma brain tumour aged just 2years 10 months. The lack of awareness for this devastating disease is forefront of our goals whilst also supporting families at Queens Medical Center Nottingham. We engage various in fundraising activities within Nottingham.

We supply users, specifically members confined to a wheelchair, or those who need to compete from a wheelchair, with the facilities and equipment to participate in a large number of sports. eg. Basketball, Archery, Bowls, Wheelchair Rugby, Table Tennis, Snooker, Pool, Sailing, Weight training and fitness, Air Rifle and Pistol etc.

The charity provides recreational fishing trips for the elderly and/or disabled. It organises all kinds of inland fishing, fly fishing, coarse fishing & carp fishing, also associated activities e.g. teaching how to fish, fly tying etc. The charity owns its own specially adapted vehicle and the fishing equipment. The trips are provided free of charge.

Climb Your Mountain helps people improve their mental and physical health through physical activities and education, where people feel they have their own personal mountain to climb in life (e.g. depression, stress, anxiety, low confidence). We offer free organised walks plus free books and talks on a range of health and wellbeing topics.

We will be a community village hall providing a meeting space, social activities, community gatherings and celebrations.A much missed service in this village with no other place to meet, at present undergoing renovations, essential new facilities, and plan to be open early 2023.

Raise funds by providing talks and attending events to raise awareness of Hedgehogs and other biodiversity issues. Funds raised are used to support local Hedgehog Rescues.

CDLHS presents at least 5 lectures a year on aspects of local and regional history to all members. We host an annual summer excursion to places of local historic interest, and participate at local events.CDLHS manages the village historic archives housed in the Jubilee Room in Collingham. This is open to the public on a number of days each year and is open on request to facilitate research.
