We are a co-educational organisation which runs activities in accordance with our National Headquarters rules and regulations. Giving members from 6 to 25 the opportunity to take part safely in adventurous and exciting activities both indoor and outdoor. the members have taken part in camps, hikes, water activities, sport days and have earned badges through the sectional progressive badge scheme.

We strive to give young people a head start in life through nautical adventures and fun. We teach them soft skills to enable them to become responsible young people.

Friday Friends provides a friendly and supportive environment in which adults with additional and special needs can engage in enjoyable and purposeful activity aimed at encouraging increased independence and enhanced social interaction.

Our activities are very much community based. A small fishing village, with an industrial history of ironstone mining, and steel works, only a small specialised part of the steelworks remaining (steel brought in by road/rail, from Teesside). High number of unemployed/retired in an area of social deprivation. A good and tight knit community, the village hall provides for the needs of the community

We have always strived to be a help to the cancer community and have done this verysuccessfully but we are hearing of other hospital departments that also need help sowe would like to broaden our objectives that way can provide equipment for thetreatment of other illnesses while still providing help for those affected by Cancer .

The aim is to enable patients,their families and carers to help each other materially, in morale and, where appropriate, to help them financially. The Friends of St Bedes aims to raise funds and give support to St Bede's RC Primary School in order to provide the children with additional learning experiences which the school budget cannot fund. Events such as Summer and Christmas Fayres, discos, race nights, fashion shows etc. are examples of fundraising activities undertaken.
