The Southern Tanzania Elephant Trust is a UK based charity raising funds for the Southern Tanzania Elephant Program (STEP), which is a conservation organisation based in Tanzania which promotes the protection of the African elephant and the habitats in which they live. Activities of STEP include monitoring and research, working with communities who live alongside elephants, education and advocacy.

We have just returned from South West Uganda where we held clinics for disabled children and assessed their abilities and needs. This enabled us to suggest placements for a special unit at Kitazigurukwa primary school or an outreach teacher we will be supporting February 2015. We are starting a small agricultural project in conjunction with a disabled young man, growing coffee and ground nuts.
