Our statutory role is to protect and promote the health and safety of members of the public by promoting high standards of professional education, conduct and performance among our registrants. The Charity's activities are carried on by individual Sisters acting within parish communities and the wider community. It runs and supports Catholic schools and care homes. The Trustees care for their own Sisters who are retiring from active work. The Charity also makes grants to beneficiaries and assists other charities with similar objects.

NYAS is a socio-legal charity providing advice, advocacy, information and legal advice to children, young people and vulnerable adults. NYAS also provides Independent Visitors who befriend children in care, and we undertake Regulation 44 visits of children homes. Under Rule 16.4 of the Family Proceedings Act we represent children and young people in private law family proceedings.
