Poverty

The Working Horse Trust's principal activity is the keeping of heavy horses in order to help preserve them. Throughout the year we attend a variety of events, hold open days and undertake work with our horses to encourage wider interest, support and ownership.

Lighthouse Shelswell has been set up to promote the Christian faith in children and young people through the provision of a free children's holiday club which is open to all irrespective of beliefs. It provides a great week of fun activities and teaching, and strengthens relationships in the community with several churches working together within the villages covered by the Shelswell Benefice.

Coalition for Genocide Response monitors human rights abuses, raising awareness of human rights issues with a specific focus on mass atrocities that may amount to genocide, but also crimes against humanity and war crimes; and contributes to the sound administration of human rights law.

A monthly get-together hosted for the elderly on the third Wednesday of the month at the Village Hall in Whiteley Village, Walton on Thames, Surrey. The event starts at 10am and finishes at midday and is open to everyone. During Covid 19, our monthly groups have stopped (March20) and we are now delivering craft care packages to our seniors as well as vulnerable seniors in Isolation.

We provide leisure and occupational therapy care through interactive opportunities caring and feeding animals on the farm. Interaction with the land, plants, nature. We provide meaningful activities and equipment for the services based at Smokey Farm, including: Summer BBQ's, trips out to local attractions and events. Equipment for developing independent skills and self-help for fullfilling lives.

GLOBAL ZAKAT FUND supports activities that address the abject poverty and disadvantage in Asia, Africa, Middle East and United Kingdom. Main area of focus is emergency disaster relief, humanitarian aid, health, education, skills and employment.

To preserve and protect the health of those caring for or nursing people with physical, mental or sensory impairment, within the family or home in South American countries, with particular focus on the Republic of Colombia. In particular but not exclusively assisting in the provision of respite services and other support activities.

The Virgil Society usually holds five public meetings each year in central London which are attended without charge by members and non-members. Meetings include presentations of paper, discussion sessions and readings from the works of Virgil. A Newsletter is published for members twice a year. Members range from those who are Virgilian scholars to those who have a basic knowledge of Latin.

The charity is established to support children and young people in Cottingham and the surrounding East Yorkshire area who are affected by serious illness, disability, or long-term health conditions, by providing financial assistance, practical support and specialist equipment, respite breaks and other needs that improve quality of life for both the child and their family.

We as a charity raise essential funds for Long Row Primary and Nursery school.The monies raised go towards equipment, events and days out which may not be covered by the schools government budget.
