TO ASSIST PERSONS PRIMARILY IN ATHERTON, TYLDESLEY, LEIGH AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS OR IN OTHER PARTS OF THE UK WHO ARE IN CONDITIONS OF HARDSHIP AND DISTRESS IN SUCH WAYS AS THE TRUSTEES FROM TIME TO TIME THINK FIT, IN PARTICULAR BUT NOT EXCLUSIVELY, BY THE PROVISION OF FOOD TO ENSURE A HEALTHY AND NUTRITIOUS DIET DURING A PERIOD OF CRISIS WHERE THEY COULD NOT OTHERWISE OBTAIN FOOD TO EAT.

The current activity is the maintenance and operation as a heritage attraction of 84 Plymouth Grove, Manchester, the home of Mrs Elizabeth Gaskell. The house is open to the public and runs a programme of activities and events.

The Mayor of Wigan's Charity Appeal raises funds or receives donations to support one or more organisations/charities during each Mayoral year. The chosen organisation/charity must benefit residents of the Wigan Borough in order to be considered for support by the Charity. Ideally the funding should be used for a capital project but we do not rule out revenue funding.

Ormside Mill is the perfect location for groups of young people and adults to undertake residential stays. AALA (Adventurous Activities Licencing Association) registered we offer a variety of adventurous activities, including outdoor pursuits, training, workshops, group work and environmental studies.Ormside Mill can accommodate self catered groups of up to 20 people & up to 20 campers.

We:- conduct trap/neuter/return programmes for feral cats and rehome to safer environments where possible-work with other organisations including charities and shelters with a similar ethos in order to support cats in need- support cat owners with the veterinary care of their cats in cases where it is deemed the cat will suffer without this- educate owners and the public re: neutering
