The entertainment of the public through organised choral concert performances focussing on widening the appreciation of choral music and on fund raising for other charities and good causes. The Brunel Shed provides a workshop environment within which groups of men and women work side byside on individual, civic or community projects. It provides an environment for conversation and socialinteraction between those who are retired, isolated or widowed is a forum for the exchange of informationon issues particularly affecting older people. Currently, five sessions are provided.

The Civic Society aims to improve the appearance of the area by preserving what is good from the past and by encouraging high standards of design in new buildings. The Society checks and comments on all planning applications which concern listed buildings. It organises a programme of lectures and field trips, helps fund conservation projects and publishes a newsletter three times a year.
