Empower the Gambia provides training & resources for communities in rural Gambia in order to alleviate poverty. We first visited Bansang in 2008 & set up the charity in 2012. We sponsor children, support schools, medical services, a poultry cooperative & kitchen gardens. We plant community libraries with sponsored librarians & have completed a building programme. We now work with 7 communities.

Glen Howe is a valuable local community park which is used for informal and leisure activities. The mature heritage woodland is part of a management project with Sheffield City Council and Stocksbridge Steel Valley Project.
