Gravenhurst Reading Room is run by a committee for the village charity, the activities are mainly control of the hireing and maintenance of the reading room , to provide the village with use for internal recreation within the hall.

Recreation ground

The Charity owns and runs to discreet areas in Hatfield as recreational fields. One site is at Birchwood Leisure Centre and has football pitches, the other site is de Havilland Grange off Cornflower Way, Hatfield and is laid out as a meadow with pathways and shrubs.

As managing trustee, Rayleigh Town Council manages The King Georges field in the town centre. Facilities provided include: sports pavilion, bowls club, town council office, meeting room hire, play equipment,public toilets, snack bar, football pitches. The field is hired to organisations for events.

The aim of the Oxfordshire Playing Fields Association is to enable the community-based provision of good quality and accessible playing fields, playgrounds and other suitable outdoor spaces and facilities, in order to facilitate opportunities for people of all ages and abilities, especially children and young people, to participate in outdoor sport, play and physical recreation activities.
