The Society runs a programme of talks, walks and other events relating to local history in general and to the history of Long Buckby in particular. It also carries out research on aspects of village history. The third area of activity is the collection of photographs, documents and artefacts relating to the village past and present and to this end it maintains a small museum for its collection.

Care & making available for access where appropriate (including specialist research & loans) of the Guermonprez Collection within the overall Portsmouth Museums Service. The Collection comprises natural history material including preserved mammals,birds,reptiles,fish,insects,shells,botanical & geological artefacts,scientific watercolours,books, & photos of social history topics.

The objects of the charity are to stimulate civic pride in the beauty, history and character of Scarborough and its surroundings and to take an active interest in maintaining those features on which the character of the town depends. During the year the society's activities included commenting on planning applications, participating in heritage open days, raising funds and organising town walks.

Acquiring by gift, purchase or otherwise, and present to the Bodleian Library rare printed books and manuscripts as well as other items of literary, musical, historical or artistic interest, assisting the library in the purchase of any such material and its preservation; promoting and supporting the library in its aim to fulfil the needs of the University of Oxford.

Southfield WI is outward looking, it has monthly meetings with speakers, reading group, visits to theatre, and historical places. It supports G.F.W.I. events, including music, drama, crafts, and environmental issues. Southfield gives a bursary for educational courses, welcomes visitors, and gives social companionship for its members. Many members volunteer for local causes.

Recording and preserving the oral history of the Colchester area

Warboys WI have provided 11 meetings for members. Talks have been on Travel, Food security, Culture & Sport history, Gardening, History and Environmental issues. We continue to hold Craft meetings, Walks and games afternoons. Members have also taken part in the County events throughout this year.

Hold monthly meetings addressed by speakers on wide variety of historical subjects. Publish annual journal 'Cake and Cock Horse' containing articles of local historical interest. Publish occasional research volumes on local historical subjects. Arrange summer outings to places of local historical interest.

The aims of the society are to further the studies of birds in the field and assist in their preservation.Specific activities include:- co-operation with other bodies in the maintenance/management of local areas of ornithological/natural history importance- recording of bird life in the LOS area- publishing of ornithological material and that related to conservation, relevant to the area

Protects the historic Battlefield at Towton. Actively promotes research and improved knowledge of the Battlefield and other related subjects particularly the preservation of the use of the English Longbow.Works with schools, community groups and national bodies to engage the wider public to learn more about the Battle of Towton, the Wars of the Roses and Medieval history.

To advance the education of the public in French language, French literature, french history, and French culture in the City of Winchester and the surrounding region.

To improve, protect and preserve Stanmer village, Brighton, and its environs for the benefit of the public, including Stanmer church and the local rural history museum;To campaign; to educate public opinion; to make representations at public enquiries in support of the above objectives;

The furtherance of the b-iannual Earl Lecture given at Keele University, encouragement of historical research into the history of Staffordshire and its environs, assistance in the publication of such research and supporting purposes of an educational nature as connected with Keele University

The Trust promotes access to, and availability of, manuscripts of use to historians, biographers and other researchers, as well as assisting in the tracing of copyright holders.

Support is principally given to charitable organisations promoting education in art, architecture, history and music, particularly in Venice and assisting in the preservation for the public benefit of buildings and works of art in Venice.

To facilitate the study and exchange of local history and archaeology information in Great Yarmouth and district through meetings and publication of books.GYLH&AS provides information to the public, provides speakers for local meetings, works with local archaeological and other groups in the area. It interacts with local museums & runs a YAC in conjunction with the Time & Tide Museum.

Management of Simpson Village Hall, leased from Milton Keynes Council. Support for local community activities. Support for Simpson History Group.

To provide a safe enviroment for elderly, and disabled people to come together and socialise, play games, participate in discussions, arm chair exercise and share experiences. They are provided with a hot nutritious meal at the centre.The users also enjoy participating in summer BBQ, and trips, including to the seaside and theatre, as well as celebrating events such as Black History Month

Harvington Hall, a fascinating moated Elizabethan manor complete with gardens and a unique malt house, attracts over 20,000 visitors a year who enjoy its peace and learn about its significant role as a place of refuge during the turbulent penal times of the 17th century. The trust aims to complete the restoration and development of the buildings to ensure their survival.
