We provide the following services1. Promotes the study of the history of the uniformed forces of the crown by talk, discussions, visits to museums, an annual exhibition and the publication of a quarterly magazine & booklets on particular aspects of military history. Promotes the collection of objects of military interest.

To work for the public benefit in creating environmental awareness and in stimulation and encouraging an understanding of and active involvement in the protection, conservation, and practical improvement of features of general and public amenity or historical interest within the landscape,and in doing so provides grants to assist in the process.

Explanation of the history of Plumbing and demonstration of historic Plumbing techniques.

The charity runs the local Memorial Hall which consists of a large main hall plus a meeting room. We maintain and operate Claverton Pumping Station, a unique water-powered Grade I listed Georgian beam engine. The pumping station, built in 1813, was designed by John Rennie to lift water up to the Kennet and Avon Canal. Our volunteers maintain this vital part of Bath's industrial heritage, operating the pump on public open days and sharing its history.

The advancement of education of children and young persons in the Greek language culture, history and tradition.

Produces the bi-annual 'Imago Mundi: the International Journal for the History of Cartography'. It is also responsible for coordinating the biennial series of International Conferences in the History of Cartography. In general, its aim is to promote and extend interest in the academic history of cartography worldwide.

The Charity maintains and runs the hall which is used by local people for activities such as WI, Children's film club, Local History Group, Bridge, Painting, Yoga and Pilates. Plays and pantomimes are performed as well as other entertainments and interests. It is also hired for wedding and funeral receptions and other events. The Post office uses the hall annexe twice a week to serve local people.

The advancement of public education in, and the study of, local history

We help retired people with social, educational & recreational activities. Our groups cover history, languages, art, music & general discussion. Our games groups cover bridge, karaoke, scrabble & backgammon & there are also walking & exercise groups. We have approx. 650 members and are committed to adult learning.

Provide opportunities for the general public to be actively involved in the environment & local history of Sholing Valleys. Activities include litter-picks, pond-dipping, animal/plant surveys, tree planting, slide shows & much more. We run a monthly Childrens Group at our Study Centre & encourage Group visits. Organising popular fund-raising events we also work closely with similar groups.

FSLS is concerned wth Environment/Conservation/Heritage and organises a series of educational walks around Frome during the summer.which are designed to help residents/other groups appreciate the economic and social history of the town and the fine selection of Frome's magnificent buildings.Helps Charities and other voluntary bodies,makes Grants to organisations, sponsors or undertakes research.

To promote and encourage the study of Irish genealogy and to collect books and manuscripts of genealogical value.Has a library of books and documents relating mainly to Irish Family History, currently in store. To advance the education of the public in the history of public transport vehicles particularly but not exclusively from the Teesside Area by establishing and preserving for posterity a collection of public transport vehicles and by such other means as the Trustees may determine.
