THE BURFORD ALMSHOUSE CHARITY HAS 18 ALMSHOUSES FOR PEOPLE OF LIMITED MEANS RESIDING WITHIN A SEVEN MILE RADIUS OF THE TOLSEY IN BURFORD. PREFERENCE IS GIVEN TO WOMEN APPLICANTS. THE TRUSTEES MAY CONSIDER APPLICATIONS FROM OTHERWISE QUALIFIED PERSONS FROM OUTSIDE THE AREA WHO CAN ESTABLISH PAST OR PRESENT LINKS WITH THE BURFORD AREA.

The Charity provides housing and support services to the elderly in almshouses in Upton Lane, east London.

The charity has twelve properties referred to as almshouses. The almshouses are for long-term residents of Shepton Mallet and immediate surrounds, preferably aged over 55 whose circumstances require a move to sheltered accommodation; if younger, a higher level of need has to be established.

We provide accommodation for qualifying people within a radius of fifteen miles of The Hospital. We have six single occupancy almshouses and two family cottages, providing much needed homes for old and young alike, in an area with high rental and ownership costs. We don not provide medical attention or any other care.
