The charity was set up in the 16th century to help the poor. It is now inactive and so all monetary dues to it are paid over to the Betenson Trust which is another charity whose purpose is the upkeep of local almshouses.

Most of our funds are either raised through holding coffee mornings or donations. We then distribute to elderly people (residing in Woodstock) at Christmas, in the form of vouchers, e.g. Co-Op food vouchers. Occasionally we will make a donation to the local almshouses & elderly residential community sheltered housing.

Providing small grants from interest on capital funds to elderly & needy of the parish of Ilton; Whetstone's Almshouses are on a 99 year lease for a peppercorn rent to a housing association.
