To stimulate interest in and encourage research into the scientific and technical problems of snow and ice worldwide; to facilitate and increase the flow of glaciological ideas and information; to publish the Journal of Glaciology, Annals of Glaciology, the IGS newsletter ICE and other such publications as the Council from time to time determine; to sponsor lectures, field meetings and symposia.
