The Society exists to recognise those who have worked within the commerce of shipbroking and shipowning and are in need of assistance; to provide financial assistance where appropriate and provide friendship, care and support where financial assistance is not required; and to provide support, financial or otherwise, to the spouses, widowers, widows, children or dependents of such persons
