Rookhow is a 300 year old Grade II* listed Quaker Meeting House and Bunkbarn in the Rusland Valley, Cumbria. Our aim, as well as providing a gathering place for Quakers and accommodation especially for disadvantaged groups, is to be a local community resource as a venue for meetings and workshops. The surrounding ancient oak woodland is a valuable resource for learning and retreat.

The Quaker Tapestry is an exhibition of 77 embroidered panels made by 4,000 people from 15 countries between 1981 and 1996. The modern community textile project depicts the social and political context in which Quakerism developed from 1652 to the present day. Since 1994 it has been housed in Kendal's historic Quaker Meeting House and constitutes one of the largest community textiles in the world.

Our principal activity is the holding of public meetings for worship according to Quaker tradition in the constituent local meetings of Bradford, Halifax, Hebden Bridge, Huddersfield and Scholes

We work forpeace, equality, justice & sustainability inspired by our testimonies.Local Quakers work together, and often with other groups toward these ends.We also support projects further afield, often through our national offices oninternational projects.

The principle activities of the charity is the furtherance of the general religious and charitable purposes of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) in Britain in the area pf Craven District and Keighley Town Council areas and beyond. The charity owns and maintains 5 Quaker Meeting Houses and 1 closed burial ground and 2 open burial grounds. The charity operates a Bunk Barn at Airton.

Seven local Quaker Meetings are supported and enabled to work together to provide Meetings for Worship and witness. Meeting Houses are let to local organisations.

To further the general religious and charitable purposes of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) within West London and beyond, primarily by holding Quaker public worship at its meeting houses and supporting the outreach and mission of the wider Society both financially and through the active involvement of its Members and Attenders in the Society's work.

We offer public meetings for silent worship after the manner of the Society of Friends (Quakers). We uphold our members and attenders in a caring community where pastoral and spiritual care is taken very seriously, at the same time as reaching out to a wider public. We work with other churches and faiths and to promote our testimonies to simplicity, justice, peace, equality and the environment.

Strengthen life and witness of Quaker meetings in S E Anglia area and beyond; spread Quaker message; undertake Quaker service to relieve suffering; fund Quaker concerns; provide pastoral care; maintain/develop Quaker meeting houses as places for public worship; administer/maintain the organisation of Southern East Anglia Meeting and contribute to the support of Britain Yearly Meeting.

Grants and interest-free loans to charitable projects providing secure, appropriate and affordable rented housing to meet genuine housing need.

Staffordshire Area Quaker Meeting is part of Quakers (Religious Society of Friends) in Britain. We comprise of 7 local meetings in Staffordshire holding meetings on Sundays for religious worship (Christian based) and involved in a wide variety of community service.

Religious activities

The charity provides accommodation for the elderly in ten bungalows or flats. It also provides grants to organisations and individuals. These may be in respect of the Religious Society of Friends, or any charitable objects connected with the town of Ashford in Kent, or to meet expenses of education or or for the relief of poverty.
