To advance the understanding of the experience and nature of mental illnesses, to promote the understanding of the impact on behaviour and personality of the acquisition of power,in politics and business, to advance the education of pupils and staff at the Maudsley Hospital and other psychiatric centres, and to advance the education of the public in the subjects of philosophy and psychiatry.
