THE SOCIETY IS ESTABLISHED TO UNDERTAKE THE FOLLOWING: A)TO PROMOTE EDUCATION AND RESEARCH INTO ALL ASPECTS OF MINES, CAVES AND OTHER UNDERGROUND SITES, ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTH EAST OF ENGLAND, AND TO PUBLISH THE USEFUL RESULTS OF SUCH RESEARCH. B) TO PROTECT AND PRESERVE FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC, MINES, CAVES AND OTHER UNDERGROUND SITES OF SCIENTIFIC OR EDUCATIONAL INTEREST.
