The Trust's primary purpose is to promote, maintain, improve and advance education, by encouraging and stimulating public appreciation and understanding of the dramatic art in all its forms, but principally in relation to the works of William Shakespeare. The primary objectives of the trust as defined by the memorandum and articles of association are the encouragement of the arts, the promotion and advancement of education, and the cultivation and improvement of public education in drama, mime, opera, singing, music, dance, painting, and sculpture, cinema, literature and other arts.

To promote the arts and heritage for the benefit of the public within the city of Bradford and to advance the arts, in particular the arts of performance, music, drama, poetry reading, sculpture, painting, handicrafts and all other associated arts, by encouraging public participation by supporting the arts and heritage sector through promotion, representation and development.
