The charity makes grants to relieve poverty and for advancement in life.

The Trust is an almshouse and grant-making charity operating only in the Parish of Harefield. It provides alms accommodation for qualifying elderly women and families and also playing fields. At Christmas cash grants are made in lieu of traditional coal allocations to qualifying elderly. Grants are also made from time to time to individuals or groups with an established need.

The Ruth Hayman Trust gives educational grants to adults who have come to settle in the UK and whose first language is not English.

The charity makes grants in the areas of education and training and health and disability to Shropshire residents and projects. Grants are made to organisations and individuals. Education and training grants may be for courses undertaken both within or outside the area of benefit. Projects must operate and provide benefit within the area.

The BSDB aims to promote and advance the research, teaching and public education of developmental biology in the United Kingdom by organising research meetings, awarding grants to individuals and organisations. The BSDB supports young scientists and awards grants to enable them to attend scientific meetings. In addition we aim to further public education in the science of developmental biology.

For relieving need, either generally or individually persons resident in the area of benefit (the ancient Parish of Downham), who are in need, hardship or distress by making grants of money or providing or paying for items, services and facilities calculated to reduce the need.

The objectives of the charity are to help people suffering from rheumatic diseases and to provide funds for research into the prevention, cure and relief of such diseases. This is achieved by funding research and development at the Haywood Hospital and by supporting the education of patients and health professionals with expertise in the rheumatic diseases.

Manage a city farm on the outskirts of Birkenhead, Wirral for public recreation and education. With a small collection of farm animals, cafe, nature trail, special events and gift shop the farm also provides opportunities for volunteers to be involved from maual tasks to fundraising.

The Helen Roll Charity aims to distribute about £300,000 annually between about 30 charities, often continuing to make grants to them over long periods. There is only room for grants to one or two newcomers each year. It operates through registered (or exempt) charities and no donations are made directly to individuals. The objective is the education of the public in the study, practice and appreciation of the art of the recorder and its repertoire in the UK and Ireland through group playing, skilled direction, training in conducting and other skills and promotion of a Solo Recorder competition. Grants are made to relevant organisations and individuals in need.

The Trustees make grants to various charitable institutions. The Trustees consider applications in or around June each year with successful applicants being notified in November of the same year.

The Trust exists to raise money to assist with the maintenance, repairs and improvement of historic churches of all christian denominations and to raise awareness within the administrative county of Herefordshire. This assistance is given by making grants and occasionally, in appropriate circumstances, by offering interest free loans.

The Trustees usually only award Grants to Charitable Organisations based in Bedfordshire or for work in Bedfordshire. Priority will be given to grants for capital projects and not for running costs.

The charity provides venue in which social, recreational and educational activities can be held, an equal opportunities policy ensures equality for all.

The main objects of the charity are to provide, establish and preserve facilities in the village of Moira in the District of North West Leicestershire for the purposes of the study of and research into its industry, archaeology, architecture, transportation, social history, natural history and the conservation of its flora and fauna for the benefit and education of the public.
