The principal activity of the charity is the advancement of public education in the history, economy, geology and other features of the Dudley Canal Tunnel and Inland Waterways. In furtherance of the objectives the charity operates passenger vessels through the Dudley Canal Tunnel and on other canals in the region.

Reviewing local planning proposals and submitting views. Attending consultation meetings and public hearings where appropriate.Presenting slide shows to interested parties.Arranging visits to places of historical and/or environmental interest.Publishing a quarterly journal "City and County"Campaigning as deemed necessary to protect landscape and heritage

The group is established to pursue the following objects in the counties of Berkshire, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Wiltshire and the Channel Islands: To advance the study and practice of archaeology; To promote the education of the public in such archaeology; To conduct and/or communicate the results of relevant research; To advance public understanding and care of the historic environment.

The charity makes grants to young Australian musicians to support their studies and career development.

Grant making

We give grants to those going overseas to help in a voluntary capacity in schools, churches and hospitals. The applicant must pay for their travel themselves and not receive any renumeration for the work they will undertake.

The charity was set up specifically to help people of limited means who live in East Markham, by making grants to individuals and by providing accommodation. This consists of three one-bedroomed bungalows suitable for older people, and a two bedroomed house, suitable as a starter home for a young family.

The charity provides support for people under the age of 25 who are living in Paddington and who are in need of financial assistance to enable them to persue their education. The charity also makes annual grants to voluntary-aided schools in Paddington for repairs or physical alterations.

To unite local Amenity Societies and Parish & Town Councils in an effort to secure the features of historic and public interest. To promote for the public benefit the preservation, protection, development and improvement of buildings, land & features of particular beauty or historical architectural or public interest in or around Whitstable. To promote the education of the public in the geography, natural history & architecture and in particular of young people in environmental studies in Whitstable.

Issuing grants to the elderly

The Society represents the parents of Roman Catholic boys at Eton College and supports the Roman Catholic Chaplain and Master in Charge of Catholics in the performance of their roles. The Society supports various charities, lectures and activities and provides grants to pupils going on pilgrimage to Lourdes with the Order of Malta Volunteers.

Relief of poverty in the world. Supporting local charitable organisations. Grants to individuals to support specific projects.
