St Francis at the Engine Room runs a community centre in Hale Village and community work in Tottenham Hale for the benefit of all local people. The charity organises and arranges activities, partners with local organisations, encourages the involvement of local people and aims to meet local needs. As a part of its work, the charity arranges Christian faith activities.

The charity carried out an extensive programme for primary and special schools in north and east London boroughs comprising classroom sessions, school assemblies, orchestral workshops and a schools concert at Hackney Empire for all participating schools.

The principle activity of the West Green Playgroup is the provision of pre-school playgroup activities. It offers a safe and welcoming environment for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old where they can make friends, play, learn and make a smooth transition to school. Regular fundraising events are organised to help maintain and enhance the existing facilities.

The principal activities of the social enterprise are an artisan bakery, bicycle workshop and light manufacturing. This work provides time limited (usually 3 months) trainee placements for men and women who suffer from mental ill health and forms a part of their recovery and social inclusion. The aim of the enterprise is a move on of trainees to employment or further training.
