Scout AssociationProviding skills for life for boys and girls aged 4-18 years old in the local area, by following the scouting principles.

For persons not in full time employment, over 18 years old. To promote the values of lifelong learning. Form interest groups covering a wide range of topics and activities. Learning is for its own sake, with enjoyment being the prime motive, not qualifications or awards. It is a mutual aid organisation.

Parent Teacher Assoc - providing extras for the school

Promote, for the residents of the Hillside Parishes, the provision of facilities for recreation or other leisure time occupation of individuals who have need of such facilities by reason of their age, infirmity, financial hardship or economic circumstance, or for the public at large in the interests of social welfare, and with the objective of improving the condition of life of the said residents.

Our charity was formed to run our local library and information centre. We are a community library and in addition to lending books, audio books and DVDs, we also provided computer and internet access. Our library is used as a venue for educational purposes by the LEA, and running courses and activities for all ages. We are self- funding.

The objective of the charity is to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the Scout and Guide Group Headquarters and assist the Scout and Guide units in the raising of funds for the maintenance of the Group Headquarters and for the running of Scout & Guide activities.

To advance the education of the public of York and the surrounding region in French language and culture.

Providing financial assistance to any permanent resident of Gargrave, Eshton, Flasby, Coniston Cold, Banknewton or Winterburn provided that, in the trustees' opinion, any such assistance is justified by the circumstances of the case. This assistance may be by way of grant or loan.

Hire of the Community Hall to local community and commercial groups.

Progressive development of young people

To attend generally to the welfare of all boxer dogs in the North of England in need of care and attention or re-homing. To promote kindness to animals, encouraging and educating on repsonsible pet ownership

To provide accommodation for older people who are in need and who live in the Bradford and Harrogate area.

To promote the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens, and as members of their local, national and international communities.

The relief of those in need by reason of age or disability in Bedale and the surrounding area by the provision of a meals on wheels service to assist elderly and disabled people who are unable to prepare hot, nutritious meals themselves thereby helping them to live independently in their own homes.

Inshore lifeboat providing a rescue service both at sea and along the shoreline in the vicinity of Runswick Bay. Also providing training and safety awareness to crew members.

To provide a village hall for use of the inhabitants of Topcliffe and Asenby and the neighbourhood without distinction of sex or political, religious or other opinions, and in particular for use for meetings, lectures and classes and for other forms of recreation and leisure time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants.

Hunmanby Community Centre provides community facilities for village organisations and for individuals to meet and hold events.

The club provides opportunities to learn and develop their dancing skills. The club meets regularly three times a week; Tuesday evenings, Wednesday afternoons and Saturday evenings. Everyone is welcome. The club provides opportunities for other community and social groups to use its premises.

Promoting of Christian faith through Sunday services, Bible studies, Sunday school for kids, evangelism through preaching and tract distribution. Operate in the entire North East region by regular prayer meetings.

Education & Activities with retired people. (i.e. no longer in full time employment.)

To protect and promote the character and amenities around the villages of Scalby and Newby and to preserve land and buildings of beauty or historic interest. registered with the Civic Trust.

Maintain and manage Ebberston village hall for community use. Raise funds for its upkeep and improvement/development via hall hire, community events (e.g. BBQ, talks, performances, recreation, learning) for the benefit and enjoyment of the residents of village and vicinity.
