Our aims are to help refugees and asylum seekers who come to live in the Harrogate and Knaresborough district by offering friendship, practical support and educational experiences. We strive to raise awareness about the issues faced by refugees, and we also campaign for a humane asylum system by lobbying local and national politicians.

DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATION OF NEW COMMUNITY HALL.

Advancement of metallurgical, mining, chemical, engineering and shipbuilding sciences. Provision of rooms for study and facilities for lectures. Making grants for research, or study solely or jointly with other bodies. Provision of grants to schools for the encouragement of science & engineering subjects. Provision of grants for students to attend university.

Scouting - educational charity governed by royal charter

Part of the building is rented to N.Y. county council for use as a library. The lease of this part of the property is in the process of being assigned to the community library trustees. As well as being used by charity & social groups to raise funds and hold meetings, regular craft/gift and antique fairs and Art Exhibitions are held in an effort to raise money to maintain the premises.

The charity existing to improve the facilities for the children and with that in mind we organise our fundraising so that the students can be involved such as: Summer/Christmas Fairs, Discos and Treasure Hunts.

It provides and maintains a Village Hall in Worsall as a focus for community activities, seeking to meet the established and future needs of the community regardless of age, ethnic origin or disability. It offers flexible accommodation appropriate for the activities of the major user groups, recreational/educational and social events.

ENDEAVOUR TO INFLUENCE THE CONDUCT AND POLICIES OF LOCAL AND NATIONAL GOVERNMENT AND OTHER BODIES, TO ENSURE THAT DEVELOPMENT IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN NORTH YORKSHIRE.WE ALSO SEEK TO PRESERVE THE LANDSCAPE AND TOWNSCAPES FOR BEST POSSIBLE OUTCOMES IN LIGHT OF EVER CHANGING CIRCUMSTANCES.WE CO-OPERATE CLOSELY WITH LIKE-MINDED BODIES IN PURSUIT IF THESE ACTIVITIES.

To manage the assets and investments of the charity to obtain the best returns for the benefit of the inhabitants of West Witton to pay out annualy on St Bartholomew's Day, to the qualifying residents, an equally divided share of the disposable income as set out in the governing document of the trust.

The hall and grounds are used by Bishop Monkton cricket, football, bowls and croquet clubs and by local groups for community events, ie. parish plan meetings, entertainments group, the Women's Institute, life-savers group, fitness classes and a school holiday club. The local community are free to use the grounds for their recreation and leisure and the hall may be hired privately.

The Choir uses historical research into performing styles and practices in use at the time of composition as the basis for its own performances, usually a series of six concerts held in York

In 1914 the charity's founder Charles William Judson left a legacy in his will for the building of six almshouses in Ripon. The occupation is restricted to persons over 70 years with limited means. Residents must have lived within 5 miles of the City of Ripon for the ten years prior to appointment. The charity's aims are to maintain and improve the almshouses for the benefit of the residents.

Ryedale Youth Theatre produces an annual musical show at Easter. Around 70 children from the Ryedale area age 8 - 18 perform for 6 performances and have voluntary professional tuition.

Thorpe Prebend acts as a Heritage Centre for the Cathedral and houses exhibits which unveil the Story of Ripon and the Cathedral over the centuries.Schools use the house for educational visits.Local organisations hold lectures in Thorpe Prebend on historic events.
