Blackmore Vale Riding for the Disabled offers riding on real ponies and two mechanical horses at Cherrington Farm Cottage, North Cheriton, Somerset to disabled riders in N Dorset and S Somerset.Our riders range in age from 5-74 and have a range of disabilities. We have 6 accredited coach/instructors and a pool of 50 volunteers. We operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays during term time

Our main activities are providing Church services twice each Sunday, which are open to all the public. We provide fellowship, teaching from the Word of God and worship. We provide counselling where needed and practical help when called upon.

We promote swimming excellence, inclusivity, fun, discipline and life skills. We offer structured training, community engagement, and charitable initiatives and rely on fundraising. Our mission is to foster teamwork, inclusivity and discipline, improving fitness, to enhance the lives of the community. We also offer training and volunteering opportunities in our coaching program for anyone over 14.

Scout activities

To listen & talk with persons who are suicidal or in a state of emotional distress who are resident in the Taunton & Somerset area but not exclusively to that area. The volunteers are selected and trained to undertake the sensitive task of listening to callers and help them resolve their issues in accordance with laid down procedures.

Sherborne Community Kitchen is a non-profit charity providing healthy, locally cooked lunches to elderly & vulnerable people in Sherborne and the surrounding area. Funds we raise enable beneficiaries who are referred to us by partner agencies to enjoy healthy free meals.

The Trustees administer the use of the village recreation ground and Sports Pavilion for the benefit of the village & particularly the young people of the village.

We provide emotional support for people who are experiencing distress or despair or are at risk of suicide.

The object of the charity is to provide or assist in the provision of facilities for the inhabitants of the Parish of Hatch Beauchamp for recreation or other leisure time occupation in the interests of social welfare with the object of improving the conditions of life.

Raise funds and increase awareness of the charity by giving talks, visiting schools, selling Indian products at local community events.Kathy Miller makes an annual trip to visit the children at the two centres the Neem Tree Trust supports in India.

DSC promotes the sport of dinghy sailing by providing facilities and training at a cost that makes the sport widely accessible. It operates at Durleigh Reservoir, Bridgwater and is run by volunteers. The centre is a RYA Training Centre and a Sailability Centre. The centre also provides training in First Aid and Powerboat driving as these are required skills for those taking part in tuition.

Provides a community meetings facility with a main hall & kitchen, committee room, toilets; adjoining but separately accessed small hall & kitchenette, toilets. All facilities have disabled access.

Promote community participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of children and young people up to the age of 18 residing in Devon, Herefordshire and Somerset. This is done by providing grants, facilities and educational support which will help enable them or others to participate in football and promote a healthy lifestyle. Fundraising to support Wincanton Community Hospital by running Fetes, Garden Parties, Dances, Charity Draw, Race Days, Easter Egg Hunt, and Xmas Fayres etc. The funds are used to provide support to patients at the Hospital along with improvements to equipment, buildings and facilities.

The Mothers' Union provides Christian care for families worldwide. In the Bath & Wells Diocese in 2018 we had 1141 members. We have three Child Contact Centres and a Passionate about Parenting project; we provide Away From It All Holidays for families in adversity; we provide knitted and sewn items for local special baby units and residential homes; and support the Mothers' Union work worldwide.
