This charity promotes the advancement of education of children and young persons and to establish schools in any part of the world. The charity now provides education to over 860 pupils from the ages of 2 to 18 through the St James Schools: Nursery School, Prep School and Senior Girls' School situated at Earsby Street, W14 8SH, and Senior Boys' School at Ashford, Surrey TW15 3DZ.

The objects of the Charity are to develop the capacity and skills of the members of any socially and economically disadvantaged community so that they are better able to participate more fully in society; the prevention or relief of poverty or financial hardship and to promote social inclusion for the public benefit by preventing people from becoming socially excluded.

The principal activity of The Design Museum is to operate charitable and educational activities located at the Museum in London and the trading activities of the subsidiary, Design Museum Enterprises Limited.
