The Trust was set up to help extinguish Motor Neurone Disease (MND) for which there is no specific test or effective treatment. The goal for the MND gene-hunting programme is to discover all the genes responsible for causing MND. Once achieved drugs can be screened that can arrest and even reverse motor neurone degeneration.
