The Society is concerned with the maintenance and upkeep of the environment in the village with special emphasis on the Aldwick Duck Pond and it's immediate surroundings. All planning applications within the Parish are monitored and comments made as appropriate. Social functions are arranged both as a means of raising funds but also to contribute to the fostering of a community spirit.

Religious activities

The main purpose of the WI is to enable women interested in arts, crafts and sciences to advance their education in citizenship, in public questions, in music, drama and other cultural subjects and in all branches of agriculture, handicrafts, home economics, health and social welfare. The WI gives women the opportunity of working together to put into practice those ideals for which it stands.

Patient support and raising funds for this purpose

To promote and pass on advanced driving techniques and hazard awareness to drivers of motor vehicles who have passed the standard DTI driving test using trained volunteers

Help suitable boys as part of their education and with a view to character building through sea training. Help young people as part of their education to extend their knowledge of other nations. Help poor and deserving young people to get a good start in life. Provide additional comforts for elderly people in distressed financial circumstances.

To promote investigation and collate information on the Wealden Iron Industry and related activities for the benefit of the public by:publication and historical/archaeological research

The Charity provides grants to cricket clubs and related cricketing organisations for youth development.

Provision of CDs containing local news and interviews to anyone with reading difficulties, who is blind or partially sighted or has a disability which makes reading difficult. This service is offered free, weekly, all year round.

To promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment around Burgess Hill and other local areas for the public benefit; to advance the education of the public about wildlife within the areas by:undertaking practical conservation work , regular surveys of the area's flora and fauna, organising guided walks, newsletters etc., monitoring use of area.

We raise awareness about Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumour, a cancer that generally affects teenagers,at all fund-raising events within Sussex. Grants are given to a suitable research programme, chosen annually by the trustees, to improve treatments for this type of cancer.

The restoration and preservation of appropriate structures on the Sussex River Ouse Navigation. Providing information and education to the general public using the navigation and adjacent footpaths. Maintaining and improving the bio-diversity of the navigation.

Education to promote the advancement of women by social interaction

The charity operates within the area of East Grinstead where the branch membership of some 60 members and families reside. It collects for annual RAFA UK Battle of Britain Wings Day every September. It provides constant social and welfare support and activites for RAFA members and families and makes regular donations to local charities and organisations considered worthy by the branch membership.

The Charity's purpose as set out in the objects, contained in the company's memorandum and articles, is to advance education for the public benefit by the promotion of the arts.The Charity has determined that it will carry out this purpose through its mission which is to enable people to tell their stories.

We are working to erect a statue of suffragette Mary Clarke in Brighton as a symbol of democracy and women's rights. We provide talks, information and exhibitions, all with the aim of raising awareness of the suffragettes' role in furthering democracy and equal rights for women. We work with the City Council, women's and community groups, businesses and trade unions. We have all-party support.
