Providing leadership and strategic thinking, The Theatres Trust advises in planning, regeneration and development, architecture and design, heritage, and theatre. We enable better planning to secure, improve and achieve sustainability for new and existing theatre buildings and protect theatre use. Recent activities include the development and regeneration of the root end of the West Pier through the BAi360 project which includes a strong heritage dimension, opening the West Pier Centre, securing of major artefacts removed from the sea-based pier and working closely with the City Council on the options for the future of the sea-based pier.

A non-political independent organisation monitoring planning, land use, regeneration, tourism, civic pride, heritage, and business, raising awareness to the people of Pontefract and district. Raising the profile of Pontefract as a place to live, work, do business and visit, by protecting and enhancing the environment.

As a local civic society we organise educational activities to encourage awareness of local heritage. We hold seminars to share best practice with similar towns and we make recommendations to the local councils on the physical and economic development of the town. We publish educational books on the local environment and we support local schools in their citizenship curriculum.

Monitor planning applications relating to Hythe to ensure high standards of planning and architecture . Carry out regeneration projects in neglected areas within the Town , working with the Town and District Councils.
