The charity makes awards to students, under 25 years of age, resident in or in the neighbourhood of Blackburn, who are entering university or other institutions of higher education for degree courses. St. James' School year 6 leavers who live in the parish, receive a small grant. If they transfer to Chipping Campden School, another grant is paid when they move to higher education. A third payment is made at the start of their 3rd year provided their permanent address has not changed. Some support is provided for the school, governors, Sunday school and youth worker costs.

We help members of the 'league', aid their families, dependents and colleagues with small financial gifts where necessary, required and applied for. We produce an annual journal and have an AGM requesting for updated information on colleagues/members and their families who may be in need of our assistance. Membership currently 397.
