Promote the study of chess amongst persons under the age of 21 years in Wales and in schools, colleges, universities and other educational establishments in Wales with a view to the improvement of the minds of young chess players. Ross Educational Foundation offers grants to students up to the age of 25 whose homes are within the boundaries of Ross Urban or Ross Rural Parish Council. Grants are awarded for books, equipment, etc, to students following higher education courses & those learning professional or skilled trades. Students studying music & other arts may also apply.

THE HOLT ENDOWED SCHOOL FOUNDATION GIVES GRANTS TO THE LOCAL ENDOWED SCHOOL AND CHILDREN OF THE VILLAGE GOING ON TO UNIVERSITY OR COLLEGE EDUCATION WHO FULFILL THE NECESSARY CRITERIA TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR A GRANT.

Grants are available to students who are residents of Burton Latimer Parish who are attending college of further education or university. There is no upper age limit.
