The principal activity of the society and its objective is the promotion and teaching of psychology to current and past Open University Psychology students and members of the general public. The objects of the Lady Mico Trust are to give support, over and above that available from the Government of Jamaica, to Mico University College in Kingston, Jamaica, and more generally to assist the education of young persons resident in Commonwealth countries of the West Indies, having regard in all of this to promotion of education in the Christian faith.

The Charity awards scholarships to women in their third year of doctoral studies at British universities on the basis of overall academic excellence. The awards are offered once a year following assessment by academics of submitted applications and then interview of short-listed candidates.
