The Gloucester (1682) Charitable Trust is an independent charity set up in 2023 to raise funds to secure the heritage future of the wreck of HMS Gloucester, conserve the historic artefacts rescued from the site, create a permanent home for the artefacts to be displayed and enjoyed by the public, and to encourage research into 17th century maritime history and the lives of those on board.

The Association's purpose is to encourage and assist the study of local history throughout Great Britain as an academic discipline and rewarding leisure pursuit for both individuals and groups.
