Heritage Charities That specialise in History

The charity's objects are to protect, preserve and promote for the benefit of the public the historical, architectural and constructional heritage existing in and around follies, grottoes and garden buildings. We publish "Follies Journal" annually, and "Follies" magazine.

Monthly lectures, 2 annual conferences, publications, visits, displays and small grants with the aim of educating the public and promoting study in the fields of history, archaeology and architectural history, particularly in relation to the county of Cambridgeshire. The Society represents the interests of these fields within the county to bodies like local government and Cambridge University.

We provide a forum for research and exchange of information on all aspects of past metallurgy, in Britain and worldwide. We also aim to promote the understanding and conservation of all aspects of the heritage relevant to metallurgy. Our interests range from prehistory to the present, and from extraction and smelting to all aspects of metalworking and the use of metals in society.

The Sheffield Recreation band was formed in 1900 and has a long history and heritage with the city centre of Sheffield and also the steel industry within the wider areas of the city, of which the band are very proud. In May 2025 the band will celebrate its 125th year. We have worked very hard to attract a wide age range within our band 13 years to over 70 years.

Maintain 17th century almshouses to provide accommodation for Bakewell people in need or hardship.

Organises lectures, seminars and workshops for members and the public. Publishes guides to the study of Jewish Genealogy available to all, a journal (Shemot) and newsletter. Operates a library open to all by arrangement. Promotes research into Jewish family history. Provides websites open to all containing details of more than 1000 Jewish communities in Great Britain.

The BNHS was formed in 1946 and its main function is to record the flora and fauna of the county of Bedfordshire. Over 20 recorders cover many branches of natural history study and their annual reports are published in the Bedfordshire Naturalist. The Society depends on annual subscriptions and members receive quarterly newsletter Wild about Beds and programmes of meetings.

To preserve for the benefit of the public such of the historical architectural or constructional heritage as may exist in Surrey in the form of buildings, gardens, plant, machinery or monuments. The Trust may purchase, sell or restore buildings, make grants and provide advice to owners, work in conjunction with public or charitable bodies and foster interest by way of visits and lectures.

Publication of the annual 'Records of Buckinghamshire', the publication of record for the archaeology and history of Buckinghamshire. The publications of books and pamphlets on subjects of interest to members of the Society and to others having an interest in the archaeology and history of Buckinghamshire. Organising public lectures and visits to places of interest for members of the Society.

Around 8 social events held each year for parishioners and their friends. Several education classes including music, art & history. Hall can be hired for a range of activities including parish council meetings, art exhibitions, private parties. The main aims of these activities are to maintain and develop this historic building as a focal point for all members of the community.

Organise and arrange talks/lectures on local historical matters for our community. Maintain, operate and staff the Town,s Museum including fund raising for it,s upkeep.Provide historical information to the local schools and organisations as and when required.Organise ,record and safely store historical records in a local Mansion.

The Society has the following aims:1. The encouragement of high standards of architecture and town planning.2. The stimulation of public interest in the beauty, history and character of the area.3. The preservation, development and improvement of features of public amenity and historical interest. 4. The implementation of these ends by exhibitions, lectures, publications and other means.

Saltash Heritage collects, displays and makes available to the general public items relating to the history and heritage of Saltash and the surrounding area. It operates both a Museum (permanent and changing displays) and a Local History Centre with photographs and family history data.

Provide faciltities and accommodation for members to meet and discuss various Natural History acitivities, such as astronomy, photography, archaeology, history, geology, meteorology, etc

The objects of the society (as set out in the trust deed) shall be to provide and maintain a museum in Watchet for the benefit of the education of the public and to encourage the study of matters of local history of Watchet and district.

Advance the education of the public in the history of the Islamic World, of Egypt and of the Mohamed Ali family in particular.Maintain and preserve an archive of historical interest.Sponsor and assist in the study of the period of the reign of Khedive Abbas Hilmi II including an authoritative biography of the Khedive.Assist impecunious members of the Mohamed Ali Family.

The objects of the Charity are to encourage, promote and engage in the advancement of public education and in the preservation and conservation of relevant records, structures and objects, relating to industrial archaeology and history, particularly in the County of Gloucestershire.

Maintain for the public benefit a museum for the acquisition, preservation, exhibition and interpretation of material evidence and associated information relating primarily to Southend pier and its history

Development & promotion of understanding of the Dartmoor Greyface breed of sheep, breed development and improvement, development of the place of the breed in the national sheep flock and recording the history of the breed.

HERITAGE CENTRE/MUSEUM AND VISITOR INFORMATION

The advancement of the education of the public in the history of Coastal Forces by the restoration, preservation and permanent display, for public benefit, of Coastal Forces craft, together with relevant artefacts, records and memorabilia relating to such craft.In furtherance of these activities the Charity supports Coastal Forces veterans and historic craft.

Acquire, repair, and sell or let historic buildings in and around Tremadog as a means of preserving their architectural and historical interest.Inter alia:Publish books, hold exhibitions, arrange visits, undertake research;Raise funds by subscription, donation, grant, loan or otherwise; Accept gifts;Employ staff, apply for statutory consents, enter contracts; Support other like trusts
