THE ENCOURAGEMENT, ADVANCEMENT AND FURTHERANCE OF THE STUDY AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE ANTIQUITIES AND HISTORY OF THIS AND OTHER COUNTRIES THROUGH CONSERVATION, RESEARCH AND DISSEMINATION.

The Charity is principally engaged in Museums management, Collections management and care, Restoration of heritage railway carriages and Education, Learning and Community Outreach in relation to heritage railways, their social and economic history and their relationship to the environment.

THE PROVISION AND MAINTENANCE OF A MUSEUM IN OR NEAR BIRCHINGTON FOR THE EXHIBITION TO THE PUBLIC OF SPECIMENS OF NATURAL HISTORY AND ETHNOGRAPHY (PARTICULARLY SUCH SPECIMENS COLLECTED BY PERCY HORACE GORDON POWELL-COTTON) AND, IF THE GOVERNORS THINK FIT, OF SPECIMENS OF OTHER SCIENCES AND OF THE FINE AND USEFUL ARTS.

To advance the education of the public in the natural and built environment, history and ecology of the South East of EnglandTo promote, conserve, protect and improve the physical and natural environment of the South East of England

The charity maintains and cares for the ruins of Glastonbury Abbey and the surrounding 36 acres/15 hectares of grounds enjoyed by 100,000 visitors a year from all over the world. Our museum explains the history of the abbey, presents its collections and hosts exhibitions and education activities. An events programme includes tours, talks and costumed re-enactors. We are open 364 days a year.

To further assist in the education (inc. social and physical training) of children attending schools within West Bromwich and the surrounding area through the use of the game of football (inc. its history and rules) and other sports activities as educational tools and in furtherance to provide West Bromwich and the surrounding areas with facilities at WBA FC for meetings, lectures and classes.

The Watts Gallery Trust seeks to promote the understanding and appreciation of the Victorian artist G F Watts OM RA 1817-1904 and the ceramic artist Mary Seton Watts, in the context of the 19th Century, and to promote Compton as a centre for exploring Victorian art, social history and craft for present and future generations.

To fund four professorial chairs at the University of Birmingham;To fund the maintenance of the Barber Institute;To purchase works of art or beauty for display at the Barber Institute of Fine Arts;To fund musical recitals for performance at or in connection with the Barber Institute of Fine Arts;To purchase musical instruments, printed and manuscript music and musical and fine arts books.

Historic 18th Century Landscape Park

The Charity maintains and provides public access to and interpretation of a historic botanic garden. It provides formal and informal opportunities for all people to learn about plants, their use and their history.

The objectives shall be to preserve, exhibit, display and to loan for demonstration for the public benefit and for the advancement of technical, historical and general education, steam and other railway locomotives, rolling stock, equipment, machines and relics which are historical, operational and of general interest and in addition are of educational value.

The Society's Royal Charter 1802 states the purpose as 'The Cultivation of the Science of Natural History in all its branches'. We have three key charitable activities:1) safeguarding and promoting our heritage collections; 2) advancing scientific knowledge and understanding; 3) engaging the public and educational outreach. Our vision is a world where nature is understood, valued and protected.

1) To preserve, restore and operate as a permanent public exhibition and museum, steam and other railway locomotives, rolling stock and equipment, both for historical and educational purposes, and2) To make available for public reference the history, equipment and operation all with reference to both the former Great Western Railway and its successors since nationalisation on 1 January 1948

To advance the education of children and young people by providing a unique historical centre at Ufton Court, and other learning opportunities elsewhere, where they can learn about themselves and the past through active learning experiences; and to advance in life children and young people,primarily living in deprived areas of Berkshire,Hampshire and Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas.

The Wiener Library is one of the world's leading archives on the Holocaust and Nazi era. Formed in 1933, its unique collection of over one million items includes published and unpublished works, press cuttings, photographs and eyewitness testimony. It is dedicated to supporting research, learning, teaching and advocacy about the Holocaust and genocide, their causes and consequences.

To further the education of the general public, principally in relation to the works of TS Eliot and to promote art, culture and heritage, in particular poetry, in his name. To preserve and conserve for the public benefit an archive of poetry, manuscripts, and memorabilia relating to the life and work of TS Eliot.

To foster musical and art education and to promote publice interest in and appreciation of music and art together with raising funds to protect the Heritage of the historical Music Hall for future generations.

Encourage the development of the arts of film, television and the moving image throughout the UK. To promote education about film, television and the moving image generally, and their impact on society. To establish, care for and develop collections reflecting the moving image history and heritage of the UK. In particular to support the work of the British Film Institute.
