We are a local history society that is established for the public benefit to serve Rugeley and its surrounding villages.Our aim is to 1) stimulate public interest in the area2) to promote high standards of planning and architecture in the area3) to secure the preservation, protection,development and improvement of features in historic or public interest.

The Friends of St Nicholas' Church, Beedon assists in the restoration and maintenance of the fabric, the fitments and the grounds of our village church, and promotes interest in the history and architecture of the building, dating from 1220. This is done by fund-raising and by providing voluntary labour.

The charity helps restore Coats of Arms in the churches in Suffolk. We also hold exhibitions to enable members of the public understand why and how Coats of Arms are used in connection with families history etc. Taking this into schools enabling children to learn about heraldry. Also we are recording Coats of Arms on buildings.

The Trust supports the British Library Edison Fellowship programme. The programme is designed to encourage scholarship devoted to the history of recordings or western art music and music in performance.

To support the conservation of Schedule Ancient Monuments and in particular the remains of Sibton Abbey (National Monument no. 21347)(English Heritage Building ID no. 285331). To support educational activities in respect of Sibton Abbey. To support research into the history of the site of the Schedule Ancient Monument above.

Support of a restored industrial heritage working museum at the site of the Lion Salt Works in Marston, Northwich, which was the last working open pan salt works in the UK and is now a scheduled monument. Also education by the interpretation of the history of the site and former proprietors, the heritage of salt making in Cheshire and elsewhere, the science of salt and related products.

Preserve and catalogue donated collections, arrange public events and to make presentations on the Archive contents, undertake oral history interviews, develop educational curricula for secondary schools, produce a newsletter, maintain the website, collect new collections, provide open access for those who want to consult the collections. The Archive has two locations: Leeds and Bristol.
