GORDANO VALLEY CHURCH PROVIDES A RANGE OF CHRISTIAN ACTIVITIES FOR ALL AGES AND HAS A SIGNIFICANT COMMUNITY PROFILE IN PORTISHEAD WHILST ALSO HAVING A WIDER WORLD-WIDE MISSION FOCUS.

To relieve the physical, financial, emotional and psychological pain and stress of people who are poor, sick, disabled, handicapped, in poor physical or mental health and elderly by the provision of support, sustenance, medical and financial assistance, facilities, counselling and services for such persons. Making Grants for the enhancement of the practice of the Jewish Religion.

We provide regular services for worship, children's activities (pre-school group & Sunday school) & regular social groups (Mothers' union, choir, bell ringers, prayer & bible study etc). We host exhibitions & concerts and provide light refreshments for visitors. We support the church overseas, a parish in Palestine & a school in Zimbabwe as well as some diocesan initiatives.

The activities encompass those normally associated with those of a church in the Church of England. In addition, St Oswald's derives income from its Parochial Hall, through a parish magazine - Sowerby Now - in association with the Methodist Church and through a luncheon club for the elderly.

The Parochial Church Council of St Mary the Virgin, Woodbridge, has the responsibility of co-operating with the minister in promoting the ecclesiastical parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. It also has the responsibly to manage and maintain a Grade 1 Listed 15th Century church premises for the benefit of the parishioners and the wider community.

To advance the Orthodox Christian Faith in Oxfordshire and the surrounding area for the benefit of the public in accordance with the doctrines and the canons of the Orthodox Church, providing a place of worship and understanding of Orthodox Christian beliefs and practices, carrying out religious acts, missionary and outreach work and other charitable purposes. The Trust facilitates the faith practice of Roman Catholic members of the Army, their families and those other Service personnel who wish to associate. It enables Chaplains to provide the best pastoral care and resources, and to engage people more deeply with the moral component of their military responsibilities. It supports the pastoral ministry of the Bishop of the Forces to those same people.
