Research Charities

During the last 10 years we have published about 20 books relating to our activities in cultural and scientific work. The last book published in English under the title The Polish Cultural and Scientific Heritage at the dawn of the Third Millennium. We publish every autumn an annual Rocznik of our society.

The purposes of the W I organisation are to enable women who are interested in issues associated with rural life, arts, crafts and sciences , to improve & develop conditions of rural life, to advance their education in citizenship, in public questions both national & international, in music, drama other cultural subjects & in all branches of health and social welfare.

Set up to support specified Christian science charities.

To promote the better health and wellbeing of older people through encouraging inter-disciplinary training, research and excellence in practice and service provision.

A registered educational charity to promote the public understanding of science and technology and to provide a club for those interested in science and, in particular, astronomy. The members meet up regularly to interchange information on the subject via observing sessions and visiting lecturers.

(A) To advance the study and science of ornithology and (B) Promote the conservation of local and national avifauna and flora and the study of other branches of natural history.

To extend knowledge of earth sciences through lectures, meetings, field trips and to support relevant publications and to support earth science conservation.

The aim are to enable women who are interested in issues associated with rural life, including arts, crafts and sciences to improve and develope conditions of rural life, to advance thier education in citizenship, in public questions both national and internatial, in music, drama and other culturual subjects. Education of women in its broadest sense - talks covering nature, science, fashion, home crafts, history: culture - theatre and places of interest visited: issues of the day discussed

Bursaries are provided annually for individuals undertaking natural science projects.

We financially supported five logic-related meetings and held the BLC Annual Meeting with talks on logic in mathematics, philosophy and computer science.

The activities of the Association are directed towards furthering the teachings of Christian Science by maintaining links with its members and providing spiritual inspiration. Its activities are entirely religious in character and every September an association meeting is held at which members and invited visitors hear an address given by an invited speaker (see Christian Science Church Manual).

Activities for persons interested in Astronomy.i.e. Monthly general meetings with speakers (either professional or a member).Weekly observation sessions if weather conditions allow.Talks/demonstrations/observation(eye/binoculars/telescopes) sessions for schools, youth groups and adult groups if requested.Open meetings e.g. National Science Week, National Astronomy Week, Star Parties etc.

Providing grants for travel and registration fees for attending scientific conferences and seminars. Providing funds for the cost of profesional journal subscriptions and textbooks. Providing funds for IT facilities supporting research activities.

The Association aims to advance the education of the public and to promote research in geology and allied sciences more specifically in the North of England with particular emphasis on Yorkshire, by holding public lectures, and field meetings , supporting like-minded initiatives and by other such means as the Association's Council may from time to time determine.

Under the terms of the Charity the Trustees shall apply the annual income of the Trust Fund at their discretion for such charitable purposes and in particular for the advancement of education and research into matters scientific and literary interest.

Promotion of scientific discussion and dissemination of scientific information concerned with ornithology, particularly on avian systematics, taxonomy and distribution, pursued through the club's publications, especially the Bulletin and regular meetings.

IN ADDITION TO THE CHARITABLE ACTIVITIES THE SOCIETY PROMOTES LECTURES ON SCIENTIFIC SUBJECTS EACH MONTH FROM SEPTEMBER TO MAY EVERY YEAR.

To promote the subject of astronomy by holding lectures, observing meetings and events that stimulate discussion and interest in the science.

FOR THE PROMOTION, ENCOURAGEMENT AND FURTHERANCE OF NATURAL SCIENCES OF THE STUDENTS AT CHEW VALLEY SCHOOL

To support research activities and purchase equipments for the West of England Eye Unit. To support training and development of ophthalmologists and clinical team members at the West of England Eye Unit. To support local ophthalmic educational events. To support staff welfare in the West of England Eye Unit.

The advancement of the education of the scientific public and in particular by the running of educational conferences particularly on the subjects of carbohydrate polymers, their science and application for the benefit of the public

As part of the larger WI movement,we aim to enable women interested in rural life, including arts,crafts and sciences to improve and develop conditions of rural life, to advance our education in citizenship, in public questions both national and international. We seek to give women the opportuniy of working together to put these ideals into practice.
